The Neuton Battery-Powered Mower is So Sexy

Neuton battery-powered mowerThe Zool Yard Tool got me thinking about other eco-friendly mowing options and I discovered the Neuton battery-powered mower.  I became an instant fan for many reasons.

  1. I”ll start with the silly, superficial reasons.  It’s not easy to mow in style, but the Neuton’s sleek look and cool green color will make anybody (maybe even teenagers) more inclined to keep the lawn looking good.   Plus, their logo is a lizard, and they’re my favorite…
  2. A more convincing reason to consider the Neuton is the reduction in pollution and your carbon footprint.  The mower runs on rechargeable Duracell batteries so there are no exhaust fumes or gasoline tanks to deal with.
  3. Their website has some fun (and scary) facts about traditional lawn mowers.  For example, over 17 million gallons of gasoline are spilled each year while refueling lawn and garden equipment.  The Exxon Valdez spilled less than that (about 11 million gallons)!
  4. They have a really cool mower exchange program so cities, corporations, and non-profits can swap their gas-guzzlers for Neutons.  Neat.
  5. The batteries, which last up to five years, are virtually 100% recyclable.
  6. Finally, the feel-good reasons.  Neuton is a small Vermont-based company that actually cares about their customers.  They also care about the air we breathe – they donate one percent of their profits to non-profits committed to clean air.

If you’re in the market for a new mower, check out the Neuton.  More eco-friendly mower info to come, so stay tuned!
